Diese Installationsanleitung von "FaxMail Network for Windows" bezieht sich auf die Installation unter den Betriebssystemen Windows 3.xx ("Win32s"-Erweiterung erforderlich!), Windows 3.1.1 ("Win32s"- Erweiterung erforderlich!), Windows 95/98/ME und Windows NT 4.0. Falls Sie "FaxMail Network for Windows" auf Win NT 3.xx installieren, dann muessen Sie leider ab Punkt 6 dieser Dokumentation mit dem englischen Orginaltext arbeiten. Mit der englischen Installationsanweisung muessen Sie teilweise ebenfalls arbeiten, wenn Sie "FaxMail Network for Windows" auf einem Server oder in einem Netzwerk installieren. Die betreffenden englischen Abschnitte sind jedoch in diese deutsche šbersetzung eingebunden, Sie brauchen also nicht zwischen dieser Dokumentation und der rein englischsprachigen hin und her wechseln. Die Faxsoftware "FaxMail Network for Windows" arbeitet auf englisch. Wenn Sie sie ordnungsgemaess installiert haben, werden Sie jedoch in kurzer Zeit - auch ohne grosse Englischkenntnisse - die Funktionen der Software erlernen. "FaxMail Network for Windows" ist ein 32-Bit Programm. Grundsaetzlich funktioniert es nur unter unter den 32-Bit Betriebssystemen Windows 95/98/ME, Windows NT 3.xx und Windows NT 4.x. Unter Windows 3.xx bzw. Windows for Workgroups 3.1.1 funktioniert es nur, wenn sie zuvor Microsofts 32-Bit Erweiterungssoftware "Win32s" installiert haben. "Win32s" koennen Sie umsonst von Microsofts Homepage herunterladen. Arbeiten Sie noch mit einem herkoemmlichen 16-Bit Betriebssystem (Windows 3.xx bzw. Windows 3.11 ohne "Win32s" Erweiterung), dann installieren Sie bitte "FaxMail for Windows". Dieses Programm koennen Sie von unserer Homepage (http://www.ElectraSoft.com) herunterladen. Falls Sie "FaxMail Network for Windows" nicht von der eben genannten Hompage heruntergeladen haben sollten, pruefen Sie bitte, ob Ihnen die aktuellste Verson vorliegt. Die aktuellste Version erhalten Sie ebenfalls unter der eben genannten WWW-Adresse. Voraussetzung fuer den Betrieb von "FaxMail Network for Windows" ist natuerlich ein korrekt installierter und betriebsfaehiger Modem. Konsultieren Sie das Handbuch Ihres Modemherstellers, falls Ihr Modem nicht korrekt installiert sein sollte. In der englischen "readme"- Dokumentation finden Sie hierzu ebenfalls Hinweise. Diese Software unterstuetzt Modems der Klasse 1, Klasse 2 und Klasse 2.0. 2. Rechtliche Information "FaxMail Network for Windows" ist funktionsfaehige SHAREWARE. Dies bedeutet, Sie haben die Moeglichkeit, die Performanz dieses Programms zu testen, ohne gezwungen zu sein, es vor dem Testen schon kaufen zu muessen. Wir bitten Sie jedoch, sich nach dem Testen der Software ordnungsgemaess REGISTRIEREN zu lassen. Das Formular hierfuer finden Sie am Ende der englischen "readme"-Datei. Nach der Registration erhalten Sie die erweiterte Vollversion von "FaxMail Network for Windows". Bitte denken Sie daran, dass Sie Ihre registrierte Vollversion anderen Personen NICHT zur Installation zur Verfuegung stellen duerfen. 3. Installationsvoraussetzungen Sie benoetigen einen korrekt installierten und funktionsfaehigen Modem. Zum Faxen legt "FaxMail Network for Windows" ein temporaeres Verzeichnis namens "TOFAX" an. Dieses Verzeichnis entsteht in dem Stammverzeichnis und auf dem Laufwerk, wo "FaxMail Network for Windows" installiert wurde. Sie sollten daher vor der Installation folgendes pruefen: a) Wenn Sie die hoechste Anzahl von Verzeichnissen im betreffenden Stammverzeichnis erreicht haben, dann entfernen Sie einige (VORSICHT: entfernen Sie nur solche, von denen Sie genau wissen, dass Sie sie nicht mehr benoetigen!!!!); b) wenn Sie bereits ein Verzeichnis namens "TOFAX" besitzen, enfernen Sie es; c) wenn Ihr Laufwerk voll sein sollte, schaffen Sie Platz (VORSICHT: entfernen Sie nur Dateien oder Verzeichnisse, von denen Sie genau wissen, dass Sie sie nicht mehr benoetigen!!!!). Falls Sie zur Zeit ein anderes Faxprogramm benutzen, bedenken Sie, dass beide Programme nicht gleichzeitig auf dem selben COM-Port laufen koennen. Starten Sie also das konkurrierende Faxprogramm nicht oder legen Sie einige Zeilen in der "Autoexec.bat", "Config.sys", "Win.ini" oder "System.ini" still. Beispiel: aendere: C:\OLD_FAX_DIR\OLFAXPRG.EXE zu: rem C:\OLD_FAX_DIR\OLFAXPRG.EXE Um eine *.INI-Zeile (WIN.INI and SYSTEM.INI) stillzulegen, setzten Sie ein ";" vor die betreffenden Zeilen. Beispiel: aendere: C:\OLD_FAX_DIR\OLD_FAX_PRG.EXE zu: ;C:\OLD_FAX_DIR\OLD_FAX_PRG.EXE Falls Ihr altes Faxprogramm automatisch mit dem Start von Windows starten sollte, so entfernen Sie bitte das betreffende Programm-Symbol aus dem Autostart-Verzeichnis 4. Installation a) Erstellen Sie manuell ein Verzeichnis und entpacken Sie "FaxMail Network for Windows" in diesem Verzeichnis. b) Falls Sie auf der DOS-Ebene entpackt haben sollten, wechseln Sie bitte nach Windows, oeffnen Sie das manuell erstellte Verzeichnis mit den enpackten "FaxMail Network for Windows" Dateien und fuehren Sie "INSTALL.EXE" aus. ACHTUNG: Wenn Sie "FaxMail Network for Windows" auf einem einzelnen Home- Computer installieren, dann folgen Sie der Anleitung unter 4.c und machen dann weiter mit 4.e. Falls Sie "FaxMail Network for Windows" auf einem Server bzw. Netzwerk installieren, waehlen Sie die fuer Sie zutreffende Bedingung unter "Installation scenarios" ab 4.d. c) Home-Computer ohne Netzwerk und ohne Server: - geben Sie "Workstation 1" an; - bestimmen Sie das Laufwerk ("Drive"), auf dem Sie "FaxMail Network for Windows" installieren moechten (in der Regel "C"); - beim "Server Drive" geben Sie das gleiche Laufwerk an; - wenn Sie nach Ihrem Modem gefragt werden und Ihres nicht finden, nehmen Sie Ihre Modem-Dokumentation zur Hand,informieren sich ueber die erforderlichen Parameter und pruefen in der Modemauswahlliste, ob Sie ein Modem finden, dass die gleichen Parameter unterstuetzt. Ansonsten koennen Sie auch nach der Installation unter "Configure" die Einstellungen aendern. d) Computer mit Netzwerk- oder Serververbund: Installing on Server as Workstation 1: - Give [Your Computer Drive] as the drive you want FaxMail to use. - Give [Server Drive] as the same. - All other Workstations will need access to this network drive. - Server computer will do all other stations sends a receives in the background. - Server will need a working fax modem. - Server can send faxes. - Server can receive faxes. Installing on Server as Workstation 2 or above: - Give [Your Computer Drive] as the drive you want FaxMail to use. - Give [Server Drive] as the same. - All other Workstation will need access to this network drive. - Workstation 1 will have the modem and do the work. - You do not need a modem. - You can send faxes. - You can not receive faxes. Installing on a Workstation as Workstation 1: - Give [Your Computer Drive] as the drive you want FaxMail to use on your computer. - Give [Server Drive] as the drive on the Server for all stations to share. - All other Workstation will need access to this network drive. - This computer will do all other stations sends a receives in the background. - You will need a working fax modem. - You can send faxes. - You can receive faxes. Notes: Workstation 1: - Will always be the computer with the one and only fax modem. - Will be able to see and intervene in all Workstations Events Log and Future Send Queue. Workstation 2 and above: - Can only see and control there own business. - Does not need a modem. e) Nach der Installation booten Sie Ihren Computer und oeffnen Windows als Administrator. f) Windows 3.xx, Windows 3.11, Windows 95/98/ME: Fuer diese drei Betriebssysteme ist die Installation nun abgeschlossen. Starten Sie FaxMail und lassen Sie es im Hintergrund laufen. Wenn Sie aus einer Anwendung faxen moechten, dann drucken Sie an FaxMail. "FaxMail Network for Windows" tritt dann automatisch in den Vordergrund und Sie koennen faxen. Windows NT 3.xx: Konsultieren Sie fuer die folgenden Installationsschritte bitte die englische "readme"-Dokumentation ab "Windows NT Version 3.xx" und folgen Sie den Angaben. Windows NT 4.xx: Machen Sie weiter mit Punkt 5. Windows NT 3.xx: Machen Sie weiter mit Punkt 6 (leider auf englisch). 5. Einrichtung von "FaxMail NT Convert to Fax" unter Windows NT 4.xx Nun ist es notwendig, "FaxMail Network for Windows" als Drucker zu konfigurieren. Pruefen Sie jedoch zuerst, ob "FaxMail Network for Windows" waehrend der Installation folgende Zeilen in die "NTPRINT.INF" eingefuegt hat: FaxMail fuegte folgendes ein: (under [Manufacturer] sections) [Manufacturer] "FaxMail_NT" FaxMail fuegte folgendes ein: (under Model sections) [FaxMail_NT] "FaxMail NT Convert to Fax" = FM_PN_NT.DLL FaxMail fuegte folgendes ein: (under Installer Sections) [FM_PN_NT.DLL] CopyFiles=@FM_PN_NT.DLL,RASDD DataSection=RASDD_DATA f) - betaetigen Sie bitte "Start" auf Ihrer Taskleiste; - gehen Sie nach "Einstellungen" und oeffnen Sie "Drucker"; - oeffnen Sie "Neuer Drucker"; - betaetigen Sie "Weiter"; - unter "Anschluss" finden Sie nun am Ende [*]?":\TOFAX", das Sie bitte anklicken und dann "Weiter" betaetigen; - unter "Hersteller" muessten Sie nun "FaxMail_NT" finden. Markieren Sie "FaxMail_NT". Unter "Drucker" erscheint nun "FaxMail Convert to Fax". Diesen Drucker markieren Sie bitte und betaetigen "Weiter"; - Sie werden nun gefragt, ob Windowsprogramme diesen Drucker als Standartdrucker benutzen sollen, geben Sie "Nein" an und etaetigen Sie "Weiter"; - klicken Sie "nicht freigeben" und betaetigen Sie "Weiter"; - bei "Testseite drucken" klicken Sie "nein" und betaetigen dann "Fertigstellen"; - nun wird die Datei "FM_PN_NT.DLL" gesucht. Diese Datei befindet sich in dem manuell erstellten Entpackungsverzeichnis. Klicken Sie also "durchsuchen" oeffnen sie das manuell erstellte Verzeichnis, markieren sie "FM_PN_NT.DLL" und bettigen sie "Oeffnen" und dann "OK"; - jetzt wird von Windows NT "RASDD.DLL" gesucht aber nicht gefunden. Legen Sie daher Ihre Windows NT 4.0 Installations-CD- Rom in das CD-Rom Laufwerk, geben Sie bei "Dateien kopieren von" "[Laufwerksbuchstabe]\i386" ein und betaetigen Sie "OK"; - markieren Sie nun "RASDD.DL_", bitte nicht "RASDD.DLL" und betaetigen Sie "OK" bzw. "Fertigstellen"; - booten Sie neu. Die Installation ist nun fertiggestellt. Lassen Sie "FaxMail" im Hintergrund laufen, oeffnen Sie eine Anwendung und drucken Sie an "FaxMail NT convert to Fax". "FaxMail" tritt jetzt automatisch in den Vordergrund und Sie koennen das Dokument faxen. 6. Einrichtung von "FaxMail NT Convert to Fax" unter Windows NT 3.xx a) After installing FaxMail Network for Windows, re-boot the computer, go to [Main] group and select [Print Manager]. b) From the "Print Manager" select [Printer], [Create Printer]. c) Fill out the information in the dialog box EXACTLY as follows. Where the C: in C:\TOFAX is the drive letter of your HardDrive where you installed FaxMail. If you installed on D: you will select D:\TOFAX from the drop-down list box. Note: o If you can not find "FaxMail NT Convert to Fax" in the Driver drop-down list box it is probably because PRINTER.INF is locked or Read-Only. Note: o In most cases all the printer files are already in place. If this is the case, give C:\ (or the drive that you installed FaxMail to) as your NT installation disk. NT expects to find FM_PN_NT.DLL on your floppies or CD-ROM, but it will not be there because this driver only comes with FaxMail for Windows. The FaxMail installation has already put FM_PN_NT.DLL in place, so it is not necessary for NT to do so. For this reason you will get a "non-critical error" when NT can not find FM_PN_NT.DLL on your floppies or CD-ROM. When you are presented with a non- critical error, select [Ignore]. NT will ignore coping FM_PN_NT.DLL, but will copy the printer driver support files that it does have. During installation, FaxMail creates the following files: \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\DRIVERS\W32X86\FM_PN_NT.DLL \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\DRIVERS\W32X86\1\FM_PN_NT.DLL \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\FM_PN_NT.DLL If for some reason they are not there, copy them there from the unzipped files that came with FaxMail. Notes: o During the "FaxMail NT Convert to Fax" installation, in response to "non-critical errors", select [Ignore]. o The reason for this unorthodox installation is that NT expects to find the driver, FM_PN_NT.DLL, on your NT installation floppies or CD-ROM for the purpose of copping it. When NT can not find FM_PN_NT.DLL, it will display a "non-critical error". In response to this non-critical error you will respond [Ignore]. NT will continue and put the following printer driver support files on your HardDrive: \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\DRIVERS\W32X86\RASDD.DLL \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\DRIVERS\W32X86\RASDDUI.DLL \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\DRIVERS\W32X86\1\RASDD.DLL \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\DRIVERS\W32X86\1\RASDDUI.DLL o When you have successfully installed FaxMail NT Convert to Fax, there will be more than one copy of FM_PN_NT.DLL on your HardDrive. They will be in, at least, the following directories. \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\DRIVERS\W32X86\FM_PN_NT.DLL \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\DRIVERS\W32X86\1\FM_PN_NT.DLL Do not delete any of them. NT needs them all. FaxMail will also put the following in your SYSTEM directory: \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\FM_PN_NT.DLL o When installing an upgraded version of FaxMail Network for Windows, check to be sure the following files are updated. \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\DRIVERS\W32X86\FM_PN_NT.DLL \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\DRIVERS\W32X86\1\FM_PN_NT.DLL \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\FM_PN_NT.DLL You can find all instances of FM_PN_NT.DLL and FM_PN_NT.DRV by going to the DOS prompt and typing: C: {Or the drive where NT is. CD\ {Move to the root-directory. DIR FM_PN_NT.* /S /P {List directories containing FM_PN_NT.DLL,DRV. Converting a document to Fax from Windows NT: a) Load FaxMail Network for Windows. b) Load your text editor or word processor. c) Select [File], [Printer Setup] or equivalent. d) Select "FaxMail NT Convert to Fax on C:\TOFAX" as the default printer. e) Select [File], [Print] or equivalent. f) Do your normal print routine to "FaxMail NT Convert to Fax on C:\TOFAX". g) After the print job is done, the "Converting Printer output to Fax" dialog box will appear and Convert the printer output to Fax. h) When the Send Fax dialog box appears, [Fax Viewer] and [Send Fax]. Note: o Some Windows Applications like Word for Windows 6.00 may not recognize "FaxMail NT Convert to Fax" unless you, before loading them, load the Print-Manager and from there select "FaxMail NT Convert to Fax" as the default printer.
