FaxMail Network for Windows Installation

Installing or reinstalling FaxMail Network for Windows:

If reinstalling go to [My Computer], [Printers] and be sure that the
[ElectraSoft Convert to Fax] is not your default print driver. If
reinstalling in Windows 95/98/ME, you may need to go to [My Computer],
[Printers] and delete [ElectraSoft Print to Fax].

Be sure to get the newest version from our www-page.

If FaxMail Network for Windows is or has been running, shut down and restart the computer
because you can not reinstall or modify a file that; is in use, is
running, and in some cases if it has been running earlier. When rebooting,
be sure you do not start any apps or programs. Be sure that FaxMail Network for Windows and
associated files are not running or in use, and that FaxMail Network for Windows is not
running as a service.

If you are installing on NT and you have [RAS], [Proxy Server], [Exchange
Server], [all Backoffice Services], [wingate], and/or any other Services
that may be reserving resources and/or the modem running as a service, go
to [Services] in the [Control Panel] and disable/Stop them. After
installation re-enable any services that you disable now.

Be sure to log on as the administrator.

Be sure that FaxMail Network for Windows has full read/write access.

Be sure the time and date are the same on all computers on the network.

To install FaxMail Network for Windows on Windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000/2003/XP, use [Start],
[Run], [Browse] and browse to the directory where you unzipped FaxMail Network for Windows
and select fmnfax.exe. Do not run fmnfax.exe in any way other than the way
just described.

Install or reinstalling FaxMail Network for Windows without any programs running in the
background. Be sure that, not even, FaxMail Network for Windows is running in the
background. Be sure that the FaxMail Network for Windows fmnfax.exe has read/write access
to the HardDrive and all files. Otherwise some files may not get copied or
modified. Re-boot immediately after installing.

The install instructions are in the fmnfax.exe.

Be very careful when asked for this computer's HardDrive. This computer's
HardDrive should usually be c: drive. If installing on a network you will
select the Server HardDrive later.

If installing on a standalone computer, do nothing. If installing on a
network, the Server HardDrive is the mapped drive that all instances on
FaxMail Network for Windows will be using as their [Server HardDrive]. Do not map to
faxmailn directory.

You may need to reinstall all workstations. Be VERY careful when asked for
THIS COMPUTERS HardDrive and then for the SERVER HardDrive. THIS COMPUTERS
HardDrive is normally c: drive.

If you have mapped the workstation 2 SERVER HardDrive to the
ServerDriveLetter:\faxmailn, it will not work. You will need to re-map it
to ServerDriveLetter:\

You can use paths if you are good with mapping directories.

To learn how to map to a directory instead of the root of a server drive,
go to www.electrasoft.com, the bottom of [Run FaxMail Network for Windows as an NT Service]
and read the message thread on this subject.

You may want to dedicate a whole server drive to FaxMail Network for Windows.

After final installation:
If you have installed FaxMail Network for Windows two or more times; once on one HardDrive
and once on another, go to the [printers] and be sure that the ?:\esfax\fax
port is correct. Where ? is the HardDriveLetter that FaxMail Network for Windows is
installed on.

ElectraSoft Print to Fax MUST use ?:\esfax\fax as its port!

Be sure you do *NOT* have a directory or file called ?:\esfax\fax on the
system.

Do not share the ElectraSoft Print to Fax on ?:\esfax\fax. Each station has
its own.

If your are installing on Windows NT and after rebooting your computer
the [ElectraSoft NT Print to Fax] does not show up in the printer
selection list, go to the Printer-Installer, [Add Printer] and create the
[ElectraSoft NT Print to Fax] as per the FaxMail Network for Windows readme.txt
instructions. The section you want to read is called WINDOWS NT.

If your are installing on Windows 95/98/ME and after rebooting your
computer the [ElectraSoft Print to Fax] does not show up in the printer
selection list, use the Add Printer ICON as follows:
  o  Click [My Computer], [Printers], [Add Printer], and the Add
     Printer Wizard box will appear.
  o  Click [Next].
  o  Click [(*)Local Printer], [Next] to go to the Printer selection box.
  o  Under [Manufacturer:] select [ElectraSoft].
  o  Under [Printers:] select: [ElectraSoft Print to Fax]
  o  Click [Next] to go to the [Available Port:] selection box.
  o  Select [*]?:\esfax\fax Unknown local port. Where the ? is the drive you
     installed the fax program on.
  o  Click [Next].
  o  Click [(*)No], [Next].
  o  Click [(*)Yes], [Next] and wait up to one minuet.
  o  When asked [Would you like to start the fax program, click [Yes].
  o  Shortly the ElectraSoft [Send Fax] box will appear.
  o  Click [View Fax] to be sure it worked ok.
  o  When asked [Did the test page print correctly] click [Yes].
